Mission and History

The Special Moms, Special Healing Conference was created to inspire mothers of special needs children to recognize that behind the name of “mother” there is still a “woman.”  When mothers love themselves as much as they love their special needs children, everyone benefits.  This conference will inspire mothers who are parents of special needs children to take care of themselves emotionally, physically and spiritually and allow them to share precious time with other mothers of special needs children.

The event is the brainchild of Julie McAllister, owner of Special Moms, Special Healing, http://www.specialmomsheal.com

Julie is the mother of two special needs children herself and knows first-hand the challenges that parents of special needs children face on a daily basis.  As a former non-profit CEO, Julie has extensive experience planning and executing large events successfully.  She researched and found that while there are many parenting conferences for mothers of special needs children, there are no conferences focused solely on the mother and their self-care.  She decided it was time to change that and the Special Moms, Special Healing conference was born.
